Why Soft Wash?
SOFT WASH THE MOLD AWAY
Soft washing is a cleaning process which uses low pressure to deliver a professional cleaning solution, specially blended to meet the demands of each project. It differs from pressure washing in that the cleaning solution is applied at low pressure which will not harm or damage vinyl, shingles, wood etc. Non pressure roof cleaning is the recommended way to remove the green mold and black streaks by the Asphalt Shingle Manufacturer Association (ARMA). Most home siding warranties will void a warranty if a pressure washer is used to clean the home. Listed is the kind of damage pressure washing can do if not performed correctly: Water can build up behind a home’s siding causing water damage. Siding, shingles, shutters, etc. can be accidentally dented or destroyed.
Soft wash vs. pressure washing
Which is better? First, it depends on what is being cleaned. Soft washing has its place when it comes to removing mold and mildew from delicate surfaces. Examples would be vinyl siding, hardy board and roofs. At WNC Pressure Washing we use a special blend of soaps to clean a surface without damaging pressure. Pressure washing is pressurized water shooting from a nozzle tip in most cases 4000 psi. Power washing is used mainly to clean concrete, graffiti removal and wood to name a few. We see a lot of home owners horror stories and have seen the damage to vinyl siding caused by power washing to close. Most home siding warranties state to not pressure wash and to only soft wash.

Soft wash Equipment is distinctly different than power and pressure washing equipment. The electric or AODD (air compressor) diaphragm pump applies the special blend of cleaning solution at 40-80 PSI. Our equipment used for soft washing may also have telescoping handles so that the cleaning solution can easily reach roof eaves, upper story windows, and other high areas.
Pressure washing or power washing is the use of high-pressure water spray to remove loose paint, graffiti, red clay, mud, gum and oil from surfaces and objects such as buildings, vehicles and concrete surfaces. The volume of pressure washer is expressed in gallons per minute. Power washer are machines that produce pressures from 750 to 30,000 psi.
Pressure washer nozzles alter the direction of flow and velocity of the water. Nozzles allow users to reach a greater distance or apply more pressure to a difficult to clean surface, however, they can be dangerous. Nozzles are color coded for easy identification, with black nozzles covering the widest degree (65°) and red nozzles covering the least (0°). Great care should be taken when using a 0° red nozzle as it can cause injury to the user and damage to surfaces.
