Soft washing is a cleaning process we use by delivering a low pressure professional cleaning solution, specially blended to meet the demands of each project. It differs from pressure washing in that the cleaning solution is applied at low pressure which will not harm or damage vinyl, shingles, painted or sealed wood, etc. Non-pressure roof cleaning is the recommended way to remove the green mold and black streaks by the Asphalt Shingle Manufacturer Association (ARMA). Most home siding manufacturers warranties will void a warranty if a pressure washer is used to clean home’s siding. Damage from pressure washing can be costly; Water can build up behind a home’s siding causing water damage. Siding, shingles, shutters, etc. can be accidentally destroyed by the force from power washing.
Should I hire a professional to soft wash? Why not have my landscaper pressure wash?
Very few surfaces will require pressure to get the maximum “clean” effect. Examples would be concrete and wood surfaces. When this is the case, WNC Pressure Washing is fully equipped with up-to-date training, equipment, and technology. We typically attend 2 National training events each year with full days of training to provide our customers with an up-to-date cleaning experience.
Soft Wash VS. Pressure Washing
Which is better? First, it depends on what is being cleaned. Soft washing has its place when it comes to removing mold and mildew from delicate surfaces. Examples would be vinyl siding, hardy board and roofs. At WNC Pressure Washing we use a special blend of soaps to clean a surface without damaging pressure. Pressure washing is pressurized water shooting from a nozzle tip in most cases unto 4000 psi. Power washing is used mainly to clean concrete, graffiti removal, and wood to name a few. We see a lot of homeowners’ horror stories and have seen the damage to vinyl siding caused by power washing to close. Most home siding warranties state to not pressure wash and to only soft wash.
